Terms of Service

Last updated:

These Terms of Service apply when you access the PlayChat website, use the PlayChat desktop software, or purchase a PlayChat subscription, additional credits, or an asset pack. By accessing or using the relevant services, you agree to comply with these Terms.

1. Nature of Credits

Credits are prepaid usage allowances for the PlayChat service and may be used only within the PlayChat software to offset consumption of computing resources. Credits may not be transferred, gifted, withdrawn, redeemed for cash or any other asset, and do not accrue interest.

Credits are not virtual currency, crypto-assets, prepaid cards, stored-value cards, tokens, or any form of financial instrument. Purchasing credits does not confer any ownership, investment, profit participation, or creditor right in relation to PlayChat or any third party.

2. Asset Source Disclosure

The original materials included in asset packs on this site are obtained from CC0 public-domain sources, including materials publicly released by Kenney and similar sources. Those original files are available free of charge from their source websites.

What this site sells is the added work involved in curation, categorisation, standardised naming, identifying and separately classifying atlas files already included in the original asset packs, and providing the corresponding Godot atlas and import configurations. We do not claim any exclusive right in the original materials, which remain subject to the CC0 terms supplied by their sources.

3. Scope of Business

PlayChat provides game development tools and assets for game developers. This site does not operate online games, publish games, sell in-game items or game currency, or provide any trading in virtual currency or digital assets.

4. How Subscription Products Are Sold

Subscription products sold by this store are one-time payments. Once payment completes, this store delivers a redemption code, and this store's obligations under that transaction are discharged.

This store will not charge you again for the same purchase, does not set up any recurring payment arrangement, and does not keep your payment method on file for later charges. How a redemption code is used, and the term of use it provides, are governed by the applicable PlayChat documentation.

5. Asset Pack Licence

Upon purchase of an asset pack, the buyer receives a non-exclusive, perpetual right to use the processed asset pack in commercial and non-commercial projects and may modify the materials as required for those projects.

The buyer may not resell or distribute the materials in their original form, or with only minor modifications, as assets, an asset pack, a template, or another separately extractable resource. This restriction does not prevent the buyer from incorporating the materials into and distributing them as part of the buyer's own game or other project.

6. Accounts and Registration

Certain services require account registration or sign-in. You must provide accurate and complete information, protect your account credentials, and accept responsibility for activity conducted through your account. If you become aware of unauthorised use, contact us promptly through the support email address.

7. Prohibited Uses

You must not use PlayChat in any manner that is unlawful, infringing, fraudulent, harmful to service security, or disruptive to another person's use of the service.

  • Do not attempt to circumvent access controls, usage limits, or technical protection measures.

  • Do not interfere with the normal operation of the website, software, servers, or related networks.

  • Do not use the service to generate, distribute, or facilitate unlawful content, or to infringe intellectual property, privacy, or other legal rights.

  • Do not access, scrape, copy, or misuse another user's data or service data without authorisation.

8. Service Availability and Changes

We use reasonable efforts to maintain the service but do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may adjust, suspend, or discontinue features where required for maintenance, security, technical, legal, or operational reasons and will, where reasonably practicable, seek to minimise the effect on purchased services.

If the service cannot be used normally due to a cause attributable to us, the service-failure exception in the Refund Policy applies.

9. Intellectual Property

Except for the original CC0 materials described in the asset source disclosure and content in which third parties lawfully hold rights, intellectual property rights in the PlayChat software, website, brand, interface design, documentation, and related original content are reserved by their lawful owners.

Rights in code and project content that you generate or write for your own project using PlayChat are determined by applicable law and relevant third-party licences. These Terms do not transfer to us any rights that you lawfully hold in your own project.

10. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

PlayChat is an assistive game development tool. You are responsible for reviewing, testing, and deciding whether to use generated GDScript code or other output, and for the design, publication, legal compliance, and operation of your project.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss. No limitation excludes or restricts liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted, or affects any mandatory rights available to you.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may amend these Terms to reflect changes in the service, law, or our operations. Revised Terms will be published on this page, and the last-updated date at the top will be changed. An amendment does not affect a refund right that had already arisen before the amendment took effect.
